On Wednesday 25 September 2024, I had the pleasure of hosting an exceptional cigar evening at the Fidelio Club in Montauban. The event took place in the warm setting of the L’Embucaire restaurant in Albias, offering an ideal atmosphere for a refined tasting.
The Star Cigar: Oliva Serie V Melanio Figurado
For this evening, we showcased the Oliva Serie V Melanio Figurado, a cigar renowned for its exceptional quality. This vitola, voted “Cigar of the Year” in 2014 by Cigar Aficionado, is known for its flawless construction and rich flavours. It is made with an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper enveloping fermented Nicaraguan ligero tobaccos, offering a tasting experience full of nuance.
How the Evening Went
Guests were welcomed with a selection of drinks carefully chosen to pair with the evening’s cigar. After a brief introduction to the history and characteristics of the Oliva Serie V Melanio Figurado, we moved on to lighting it, taking care to follow the proper technique to fully appreciate its aromas.
Throughout the tasting, notes of red pepper, cocoa, toasted almonds, cinnamon and sweet spices came through, each puff revealing a new facet of this complex cigar. Guests shared their impressions, enriching the experience with lively conversation.
Atmosphere and Sharing
The friendly atmosphere of the L’Embucaire restaurant helped create a setting perfect for discussion and discovery. Guests, whether beginners or aficionados, were able to deepen their knowledge and appreciate the richness of the world of cigars.
Thanks
I would like to warmly thank the Fidelio Club of Montauban for organising this evening, as well as the L’Embucaire restaurant for its flawless hospitality. A big thank you also to all the guests for their enthusiasm and shared passion.
This evening was a lovely illustration of the conviviality and art of living associated with cigar tasting. We hope to see many of you at our next events for new discoveries and moments shared around the cigar.
