On Wednesday evening, the rooftop of the La Caravelle restaurant in Montauban (overlooking the Tarn) welcomed around thirty cigar enthusiasts for the Cuba & Cocktail evening, organised by Cigare et Compagnie. A light summer format: a cocktail of your choice with a sharing board, no set dinner required. Many guests even extended the evening by ordering directly at the restaurant, all in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

Among the guests were several regulars at Cigare et Compagnie events, loyal to the quality of these gatherings. But this time, the evening also drew new faces from Toulouse and even Gers, drawn by the reputation for rigour, originality and camaraderie built up over past events.

The star of the evening: the Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 2

The highlight of the evening was without doubt the tasting of the Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure No. 2, kindly supplied by Jean-Marie of Lalande de Montauban, whose persistence secured these rare vitolas. This Cuban Robusto (124 mm x 50 ring gauge) is a benchmark for its subtle smoothness, ample smoke and balanced flavours of cedar, leather, cocoa, honey and light spice, perfectly dosed at medium strength. Its even burn and generous draw delighted every palate present.

Many guests expressed their admiration for this cigar: precision, aromatic harmony and generous smoke won everyone over. The easy light, silky draw and gradually unfolding aromas sparked lively conversation around the table, with everyone eager to share their impressions.

An inclusive, well-regarded evening

Several guests highlighted the inclusive atmosphere of these gatherings: open to everyone, with no need to join a club or pay a membership fee. This is a point guests particularly appreciate, especially since traditional clubs are often heavily geared towards a male clientele. This much more open approach contributed to the warm atmosphere and the rich, personal exchanges, with that delicate and much-appreciated touch of femininity.

Warm thanks

We’d like to extend our most sincere thanks to Thomas and the whole team at La Caravelle, whose hospitality, availability and generosity were praised by everyone. The setting, soft lighting and flawless service greatly contributed to the success of the evening.

A big thank you also to Jean-Marie, of Lalande, for his persistence and unwavering commitment: thanks to him, we were able to offer this exceptional Cuban reference, the Hoyo Epicure No. 2, a rare and precious experience.

This edition of Cuba & Cocktail marks a new milestone for Cigare et Compagnie: offering refined, accessible and friendly moments around exceptional cigars. Thank you to all the guests for this wonderful evening!
Stay tuned: more exciting events await!
